Organic Papaya Leaf
Popularly known for its fruit, the papaya plant’s leaves also have many uses, especially to create a remarkable herbal drink.
Since humans first began cultivating it thousands of years ago, papaya fruit has become synonymous with tropical deliciousness. Few people know, however, that the leaves of this tree are also valuable in their own right, with numerous applications. It is served as a leafy green vegetable in some countries, added to salads or steamed, similar to spinach. The leaves are also used as a natural meat tenderiser, wrapped around tough meat to let it tenderise overnight. The tradition of papaya leaf teas and infusions goes back several centuries, and is now being noticed worldwide in the herbal drinks community. The infusion is smooth, with a subtle, slightly bitter flavour. It can be pleasantly accompanied by a bit of honey, which complements the natural flavour and makes it a very enjoyable cup of herbal drink.
Fresh water is essential for brewing a great cup. Use 1 teabag per cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 3 to 6 minutes. Remove tea bag and place in your compostable bin. Enjoy!
